Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using Gut Friendly at gutfriendly.app ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. What the Service provides

Gut Friendly provides low-FODMAP recipes, FODMAP ingredient guidance, and an ingredient checker tool designed to help people managing Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) make informed dietary choices.

The Service is for informational purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional medical or dietetic advice. Always consult a registered dietitian or your doctor before making significant dietary changes, especially if you have a diagnosed medical condition.

FODMAP ratings are based on Monash University research, which is updated periodically. Ratings can change as new research is published — we aim to keep the information current but cannot guarantee it reflects the latest Monash data at all times.

3. Free and premium tiers

The free tier has no time limit and no feature expiry. The premium upgrade is a one-time payment — there is no subscription, no recurring charge, and no renewal.

Future features (meal planner, shopping list, etc.) will be made available to premium users at no additional charge, as stated at the time of purchase. We reserve the right to introduce additional paid tiers for new features beyond what was advertised at the time of your purchase, but access to what was advertised at time of purchase will be honoured.

4. Payments and refunds

All payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy (Lemon Squeezy LLC), who acts as merchant of record. By making a purchase, you also agree to Lemon Squeezy's Buyer Terms.

We offer a 14-day refund for the premium upgrade if you are not satisfied. To request a refund, email hello@gutfriendly.app within 14 days of purchase with your order reference. Refunds are processed via Lemon Squeezy and typically appear within 5–10 business days.

After 14 days, purchases are non-refundable except where required by applicable consumer protection law (including EU consumer rights legislation where applicable).

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Attempt to circumvent the premium paywall without a valid purchase
• Scrape, copy, or republish the site's content in bulk without permission
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to disrupt or harm the Service or its infrastructure
• Represent our FODMAP guidance as professional medical advice when sharing it

The recipes, FODMAP ratings, and written content on this site are our intellectual property. You are welcome to use individual recipes for personal, non-commercial cooking. Republishing recipes or ingredient guides in full — on other websites, apps, or publications — without permission is not permitted.

6. Medical disclaimer

Gut Friendly provides general dietary reference information based on Monash University's FODMAP research. This information is intended to support — not replace — the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional.

We are not responsible for any adverse health effects arising from dietary changes made based on information provided on this site. Individual responses to foods vary. The low-FODMAP diet is a clinical protocol that should ideally be undertaken with guidance from a registered dietitian.

7. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update, modify, or discontinue features with or without notice. If we discontinue the premium checker entirely, we will offer a refund to affected users who purchased within the preceding 12 months.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Gut Friendly is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service (i.e. €1.99 for premium users, €0 for free users).

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by Finnish law. Any disputes that cannot be resolved informally shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Finnish courts, without prejudice to your rights as a consumer under applicable EU consumer protection legislation.
